Rethinking enterprise applications with tablets in mind
Tablets came into existence only recently. They differ from computers in very important way. And the way in which native tablet apps are designed, implemented and used effectively requires rethinking the traditional paradigm of Web-based solution adoption.
Finantix has been the first industry player to develop enterprise tablet apps in financial services and has the right business and technical experience in this area.
Some of the design decision we made early on are the following:
- design apps that can work on all leading devices and technical platforms: nobody knows who will win the 'tablet wars'
- adopt a design based on an App Engine that intelligently centralises business logic, provisioning and administrative support: make apps truly enterprise-grade
- having implementation teams aware that successfully rolling out tablet apps requires different methodology, skills and attentions than the ones needed for 'classical' enterprise software: understand the tablet paradigm and a customer experience-driven approach.
